Public Golf Courses in MichiganHere are some of the top public golf courses in Michigan: 1. Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course which, as the name suggests, is in Arcadia, has been described by Golf Digest as being the best public golf course in the state. The course, which covers 245 acres and is bounded on the West by Lake Michigan, is a daily-fee golf club which is open to the public every day of the week (weather permitting) from mid-April to mid-November.

Bay Harbor Golf Club in Bay Harbor is home to three 9-hole courses: "The Links", "The Quarry" and "The Preserve". Especially highly rated are the Links and the Quarry, the former of which was inspired by the seaside courses of Ireland, and the latter of which is truly unique featuring 40 foot (12 metre) gorges and stone cliffs. 5. Black Lake Golf Course which is in Onaway, was designed by Rees Jones to be as natural as possible. The course has been highly rated by both Golf Digest and Golf for Women magazine. 6. Eagle Eye Golf Course which is in East Lansing, is a highly rated course that includes challenging water obstacles and classic bunkering. 7. Forest Dunes Golf Course in Roscommon has won many prestigious awards. 8. Lakewood Shores Resort in Oscoda is home to three golf courses: "The Gailes", "Blackshire" and "The Serradella". The resort itself has been named as one of the best bargains in the country by Golf Magazine, and the Gailes course is especially highly regarded, having been named as one of best public golf courses in the country by Golf Digest. 9. Red Hawk Golf Course in East Tawas, is a unique 205 acre course where each hole is designed to be completely different from the others, while all holes nevertheless flow naturally with the rolling terrain of the course. 10. Shepherd's Hollow Golf Course is located in Clarkston, about 30 miles (48 kilometres) North of Detroit. The course itself is set in 350 acres of rolling woodland, and also offers a full service driving range, a practice center and a golf shop. 11. Tullymore Golf Course, which is located in Stanwood, has been related as one of the best in both the state of Michigan, and in the country over all.
